What is a Content Managed website and what makes it different?

Traditionally, websites have been created by specialist web design companies, either using raw HTML code, or expensive proprietary web authoring packages. Often, changes to a single page must be replicated on all other site pages, making even simple site updates time consuming and costly. Keeping the site up to date, increases the ongoing management costs and can often tie you into the original website designer.

By using a content management system, (CMS) all of your site content is stored in a database on the web server. This is published as pages by the content management system through a Site Template.

Any content that appears on multiple pages (e.g. menus) need only ever be entered/changed once. It is then automatically updated on all pages it appears on.

Not only that, if you ever want to change the appearance and layout of your site, you do NOT have to recreate the pages or menus, simply get us to change the Template for you.

Page Layout Styles

The templates we use provide a huge range of flexibility for your site layout, allowing different page layouts to be chosen for different pages. For example, you can write an advert and have it published on any page and even get it to automatically rotate periodically with other adverts. Great for special offers!

Future Proof

Being able to change your Site Template, without having to re-create all your content, will allow you to keep up to date with new web technologies as they arise.

Who should use this type of system?

Content Management systems are ideal for any business  website where the site owner wants to make frequent additions / deletions to the site, updates to pages, addition of new products etc. Keeping your site up to date and fresh will improve your sites relevance and positioning in search engines and make it more attractive to your customers.
